Fees & Charges

Curbside Recycling Fee

A $16.20 curbside recycling fee is billed to all county residents twice a year (January & July). City residents pay $1.97 per month which is included on their water bill. This price has remained the same since the program was established in 1999.

You can now make your Credit or Debit card payment now.

Each resident is eligible for one free cart. If you did not receive a bin when they were delivered in Spring of 2009, you can order them by contacting Borden Waste-Away Service at (574) 679-9176.

Senior Citizen Discount

To be eligible for a senior citizen discount on your curbside recycling charges you must:

  1. Be sixty-five years of age or older.
  2. Provide proof to the county billing agent.
  3. Reside at your property.

Selling Your Home

The District mails bills to county residents for service six months in advance. A seller should/can prorate any unused portion of the curbside fee to the future buyer at the time of closing. We do not refund unused portions of a six-month bill period.

Recycling bins, and pick-up schedules, should be left at the residence when it is sold.

The property owner, at the time of billing, is responsible for the entire six-month charge, even if it is unoccupied while being listed for sale.

The District is not part of the county tax/treasure office. Please notify the office by phone, fax or mail in the event you sell your residence so we may update our billing records.
